This was the first time the state of Oregon has shown more than 1 million people in the census. The total for the state was 1,089,684. Because of their growth and the growth of the population of the entire country, there was a seat added to the House of Representatives for the state, bringing the total representation up to four.

Out of the 159 cities in the country which were shown to have more than 25,000 people in them, there was only one that measured up to that, Portland. The population for the entire state had once again grown, and was now up to 413,536 people.

The railroad in Oregon had grown and was able to help people get to the area to begin their new lives.

According to the census taken in 1970, wool was a major export, with almost 200,000 pounds being sold. The population in Oregon was up to 90,923, which was a growth of more than 45,000 people. The state was growing well, and the growth was expected to continue as the area opened up to more farming.
