This was the first time the state of Oregon has shown more than 1 million people in the census. The total for the state was 1,089,684. Because of their growth and the growth of the population of the entire country, there was a seat added to the House of Representatives for the state, bringing the total representation up to four.

Out of the 159 cities in the country which were shown to have more than 25,000 people in them, there was only one that measured up to that, Portland. The population for the entire state had once again grown, and was now up to 413,536 people.
The population for the state of Oregon had grown a lot since the last census was taken, and was now up to 317,704 people. This may have been due in part to the growing ability of the railroad to transport more people to more places. The railroad in Oregon had grown and was able to help people get to the area to begin their new lives.
The census this year counted details of employment and manufacturing, as well as the facts needed about the people population. The population of Oregon this year was 174,768 people.
According to the census taken in 1970, wool was a major export, with almost 200,000 pounds being sold. The population in Oregon was up to 90,923, which was a growth of more than 45,000 people. The state was growing well, and the growth was expected to continue as the area opened up to more farming. Oregon was considered one of the "wild countries", and welcomed new settlers to make their homes there.
In 1860 the population of Oregon was counted as 52,465 people. There is a discrepancy as to how many people were really living in the state because not every person was counted. American Indians were not counted unless they would renounce their tribe, the rituals they did, and also pay taxes.
The 1850 census was the first one for the territory. It would not become a state of the union until the next census was to be taken. The count is not a true count of the people in the state, but disregards some of the Native people to Oregon, and estimates their number to be about 500 people.
