The largest county by area in the United States, outside of Alaska, is located in California. San Bernadino County is located on the Eastern coast of California and is the only county in the entire state that is bordered by two other states: Arizona and Nevada. In 1810 the central city was named by Father Francisco Dumetz, who named it that to pay homage to St. Bernadino of Siena. The county itself was officially formed in 1853 from parts of Los Angeles county, and then turned around to give part of it’s land to Riverside county forty years later.
The area is the most well-known for being the home of the Mojave National Preserve. This hot eastern desert spreads throughout most of the county. The entire area, however, is not desert, as there are mountains which house the San Bernadino National Forest as well. San Bernadino County has been the home of many famous people, including Wyatt and Virgil Earp, Glen Bell, who was the founder of the popular fast food chain Taco Bell, and modern day actors Gene Hackman and Cuba Gooding, Jr. Those looking for San Bernadino County public records will most likely find the information that they are seeking with a thorough online search.
