The area of Connecticut is one that is often overlooked, simply due to it’s small size. It has, however, a history that is rich and is filled with stories about war and about peace. Those who have lived in the area often know all about the wars and battles that have gone on in the state simply due to the stone barriers that pop up all over the state. And aside from its rich history, there is also a great deal of wealth that flows in and out of Connecticut, especially Fairfield County, which is one of the highest income counties in the United States.
Fairfield County was first documented as the home to a number of Native American tribes before the area was settled by Europeans in the late 1500’s. Roger Ludlow, one of the original founders of the area that was known as the Colony of Connecticut, actually purchased a great deal of the county and even chose the name Fairfield. Today there is a great deal that can be learned by poking through public records in this county, and while you may have a difficult time weeding through hundreds of years worth of Fairfield County public records, it is always worth the search.
