The twelfth wealthiest county in the country, it encompasses five hundred square miles of land. The median sales price of a home was $670,098, and coops and condos make up almost forty percent of the home sales in the area. As of the last census, the county was home to 349,445 different housing units, and almost sixty percent of those were actually occupied by the owners.
If you’re looking for Westchester County public records, you may want to begin your research at the County Clerk’s office. It is important to note, however, that the system here is quite different from other places in the U.S. The Clerk’s office cannot issue birth or death certificates. Those remain housed in the villages, towns, and cities within the state where the event took place. For the most part, the same is true for marriage certificates. If, however, the marriage took place between the years of 1908 and 1936, you may be able to find what you’re looking for in the county’s archives.
