The huge state of Texas is broken up into hundreds of different counties due to necessity, as the area is extremely large. It used to be that it was only cattle ranches that defined who lived in one area and who lived in another. Then, however, things changed and it was necessary to break up the area into different counties. Collin County now contains almost a million people and was actually named in the honor of a man who was known as Collin McKinney. This McKinney was one of the five men who helped to put together the Texas Declaration of Independence, and who also has the distinction of being the oldest man, out of fifty nine others, to sign the same declaration.
One of the great things about Texas is that no matter how large the area is, most of the records, including the Collin County public records were kept very well, making it a simple task for people to find these vital records. Those who are looking for records in this county may want to start at the Collin County Clerk's Office Collin County Government Center, Annex A, First Floor 200 S. McDonald, Suite 120, in McKinney, Texas.
