For a very long time, the only people who saw what was to become Denton County were the pioneers who settled along the Trinity River. There were not, however, many of them for a very long time. In 1841, however, a land grant was approved and many people began to move into the area and to form what would eventually become known as Denton County. The Civil War, unfortunately, took many men away from these settlements, leaving many people unprotected, which is why the Native Americans would ride into the area during the full moon and would take what they wanted, leaving the people who lived in the area to label full moons as “Comanche Moonsâ€.
Now a days Denton County is known as a wonderful place to live, with close to half a million people filling in the county and living in relative prosperity. Many of the people who live in the northern area of the county own, or work on, a horse ranch or a farm.
