Encompassing 241 square miles of land, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, is home to nearly a million people. There are forty one different lakes in the county and some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. Because many of the residents are a bit more tuned into preserving natural resources than they are in other areas of the country, the Board of Supervisors and county Executive passed a series of green initiatives in 2007. There are five main initiatives within this program. Sustainable construction, which includes retrofitting some existing structures with the right technology to help the conservation effort, is the cornerstone of the program. There are, however, also a number of different goals that fall under the resource management, alternative energy, education, and procurement headings. From replacing traffic lights with LEDs to purchasing clean vehicles for day to day operations, Milwaukee County is going where few others in Wisconsin are.
In an attempt to conserve resources and move forward with technology, Milwaukee County public records are available online. You can also get them in person from the Register of Deeds office from 8-4:15 on most business days, but cash or a credit card is required for the fee associated with the records.
