To search for records on the Internet, you need to provide the social security number of the person, and the type of record you are searching for. However, if you cannot provide the social security number, it is better you search for the records at the public library.
You may also visit the Clerk of the appropriate courthouse in Alabama to get your copy of the record. You can apply in person, send a mail and even do so over the phone. If you are visiting in person, be prepared to wait in the queue that can often get quite long. Apply to the Clerk's office in the prescribed format and submit all the required information. Try to provide as much information as you can, because this will make the search process faster.

To access Alabama court records and dockets, follow the instructions below:
Go online to the Alabama Court Record Access page.
Go to the "Service Agreement" tab and fill out the form there. If you are unsure of what type of customer you are, click on the gray box underneath the "Background Check" option for further details.
Print and mail the application to the address listed on the screen. The payment must be sent as two checks: one for $150 made out to the State of Alabama and one made out to alacourt.com in the amount of your desired service. Once your payment has been received, your account will be set up.

Who Maintains Alabama Judicial Records?
Alabama court records for currently active cases are maintained by the State of Alabama Unified Judicial System. The Unified Judicial System provides access to records for all 67 counties in the state. Some counties may also have disposed records, if needed. Access to Alabama dockets can be gained through the Unified Judicial System's website.
Charges and Subscriptions for Court Record Access
To use the website, you will be required to submit a Service Agreement. This Agreement can be filled out online and then printed. It must be returned to the company along with the appropriate fees in order for your account to be set up. If you choose not to have a monthly subscription package, there is a $5 charge for the first 20 pages per day, and then a charge of $0.50 per page for any additional pages needed.
Ways to Retrieve Alabama Court Records
You can access Alabama court records by visiting the Unified Judicial System's Alabama Court Record Access tool.
Two types of access are available: real-time, which allows users to access current live trial court information for civil, criminal, traffic, and domestic relations cases, as well as the offline version, which contains less information, but is available at all times.
