Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1750, the Criminal History Records Section of the Arizona Department of Public Safety serves as the single centralized location for all Arizona criminal records. As such, all criminal justice agencies in the state are expressly required by the same statute to report any and all arrests and dispositions to the Central State Repository.
Copies of any criminal records in Arizona are strictly restricted to authorized agencies and individuals and attempting to obtain these records without proper authority is a prosecutable offense under the law of the state of Arizona.
Further, the Arizona criminal records section and the Central State Repository are not authorized to check criminal records in Arizona for the purposes of getting a visa, immigration or out of country adoption. A notarized statement to this effect is available from the Repository if needed. Individuals who need criminal background checks for employment purposes should contact the Applicant Team at (602) 223-2279.
