In the state of Arkansas, the trial court is divided into three separate entities - Circuit Court, City Court and District Court. All criminal and civil cases are handled by city and district judiciaries but they have limited jurisdiction. It is the responsibility of the Circuit Court to handle cases that are found to be beyond the jurisdiction of these other courts. Arkansas criminal records are handled at all three levels of the court system.
The majority of criminal records in Arkansas pertaining to felony crimes are most commonly found under the Circuit Court's domain, as it is this court that handles all felony trials, some misdemeanors and all juvenile court cases. Preliminary hearings for felony cases may be heard in any of the three divisions of the court. Arkansas criminal records for all ordinance violations, most misdemeanors and all traffic violations are handled within the City and District Court's jurisdictions.
