Check Criminal Records
The most common Alaska background check resource is the Department of Public Safety, and they will release the criminal background for anyone as long as you complete the request paperwork (which includes the signature of the person on record). The fee for these background checks is $20 per application.
Other Records Sources
Vital records are not an ideal Alaska background check resource but they can be helpful. Birth records are typically confidential for 100 years, but you can get copies of someone's marriage or divorce records after 50 years. You just have to send an application to the Vital Records office along with the search fees. Driving history records are also available from the Division of Motor Vehicles, but only with permission of the individual on the record. Both of these government offices can be contacted in Anchorage by phone, fax or email.
