Getting a Criminal History
California background check resources include the state Department of Justice, where you can get limited access to criminal history documents. As an authorized employer, you will be able to do background checks through this office, and you can also make requests to see your own files if you wish.
Family Resources
The Department of Public Health is another valuable California background check resource, and you can get access to copies of several types of family-related records. As long as you get a non-certified informational copy, you can get marriage, divorce, birth and death records on anyone you wish to research. There can be a 4 to 6 month wait and there are fees attached to each request. Driving records can be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles but they are only issued to the individual directly.
