Whether you are looking for family backgrounds or evidence of possible criminal activity, there are several New Jersey background check resources you can use.
Vital Records
You can see if someone has been married or divorced in the past by accessing their records through the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Trenton. Non-relatives can get non-certified copies of anyone's records for a cost of $25 per search. You may have a few months to wait to get your papers back unless you go to their office when you get served right away.
Criminal Records
Unfortunately, you can only use State Police as a New Jersey background check resource if you are an authorized employer. You can get your own record if you so wish, but otherwise only certain organizations will have access to the system. In any case, a fingerprint card will have to be completed in order to submit the record request.
