You will be able to find many kinds of North Carolina background check resources, though there may be some restrictions on certain types of records.
Family Documents
Vital records such as birth, death, marriage or divorce certificates are available to the general public as long as you request a non-certified version of the document. You can request at the Department of Health and Human Services in Raleigh, and find out if someone has been married or divorced in the past. Each application will be $24.
Criminal Records
You can search anyone's criminal records at no charge, which makes this a very valuable North Carolina background check resource. You do have to go to your local county clerk's office to use their terminals in order to do your research though. Printouts will cost a fee, as will getting certified copy if you need one. Additional court records are available through the Administrative Office of the Courts.
