Florida criminal records are easily accessible through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Division of Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), the repository for all criminal records in Florida. It is the responsibility of this department to not only maintain criminal records but also to provide reasonable public access to the information as requested.
Criminal records in Florida for the purposes of criminal history record checks may be acquired by the public through the FDLE CJIS at a fee of $24. According to their office the fee was instituted 'to maintain the highest level of service, and to better meet the needs of criminal history record check customers'.
Criminal records of the Florida Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are only accessible to agencies and individuals with statutory authority to have those records. All other records are available for viewing by the general public except where stated otherwise by statute or local law.
