In the state of Idaho, citizens have access to an online database of publicly accessible legal documents and records called PACER which serves as the central registration, billing and tech support center for access to U.S. District, bankruptcy and appellate court records. These records must be paid for and criminal prosecution is promised for anyone trying to bypass payment for the service. Criminal records in Idaho are maintained by the Idaho State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI).
The BCI database repository is an automated database system of Idaho criminal records based on fingerprint arrest records. The bulk of information contained in this database is available online, but only to criminal justice agencies that are authorized under state law to obtain it.
The database of criminal records in Idaho is also used for pre-employment screening and other non-criminal background checks such as licensure. Idaho criminal records may be searched by name or by fingerprint identification.
