There are many ways to obtain a criminal history record check for citizens in the State of Oklahoma. One of the websites that you can visit in order to facilitate your search is the Oklahoma Department of Corrections or DOC website. You can find the information about offenders in the death row; inmates that are on parole or pardon; sex offenders; and violent offenders. You can also run a more general search in the Offender Lookup. The offender lookup is a registry that contains the criminal records of individuals sentenced for probation or incarceration by the DOC. The lookup is very easy to use because it is a name-based search. However, this search engine isn't available during the maintenance of the search engine, which is from 3:15am to 3:20am Monday through Friday, and 3:15am to 7:00am on Saturday.
In order to search the database of the sex and violent crime offenders in the state, you can just enter the name and address of the individual in question. This is the "basic search". You can also choose to run a search based on "appearance". The identifiers that you can enter are race, gender, height, weight, hair color, eye color, and other physical identifiers.
The information that can be accessed in the State's Department of Corrections is limited. It is recommended that you search the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for more comprehensive details on the criminal records. On their website, you can find the link for Criminal History.
You can access the criminal history records information by downloading, printing, completing, and sending the Criminal History Request form (available on the website). Recently, the form was made available in a "fillable" form. In other words, you can fill out the form online and print it out.
In order to run a search on the individual in question, you must have a match of at least the full name and date of birth. In order to refine the lookup, additional information such as alias, middle name, and social security number can be added in the search engine. A fingerprint card is also required in order to access a background check. The contact details of the fingerprinting services that can be availed in the State are available in the local police department.
On the website, you can also find links on how to update your criminal history records and criminal history record expungement.
These background search services charge certain fees for the different types of searches requested by any individual. A name-based search of the SBI criminal history database costs $15 while the fingerprint-based search costs $19. As of August 1, 2009, the search for criminal records in the sex offender registry and violent offender registry of the Department of Corrections costs $2 each.
