According to the South Carolina Code of Regulations, at the web address: http://www.scstatehouse.net/coderegs/c073.htm , the South Carolina criminal records that are available for review by a private company or individual do not include juvenile records; meaning information collected before the subject became the age of seventeen. Other than that, the criminal records of South Carolina that can be requested are any that refer to the person in question regarding arrest, convictions, and any information about the individual leading to a conviction and/or imprisonment.

When requesting information, an individual will be considered to be ?screening"the records. The term ?access"is reserved for adding, deleting, modifying or otherwise manipulating information in the South Carolina criminal records. Only criminal justice agencies have ?access"to the criminal records in South Carolina; in the sense that the South Carolina Code of Regulations describes it. The criminal justice agency in charge of the information being requested is responsible for making sure the records are up to date and that there are no known errors.

In South Carolina, the SLED CATCH online system allows for the immediate retrevial of criminal records. The fee to use the online system is $25. If notirization is needed, a form must be filled out and submitted to the state. The form is available here and the cost is also $25 and should be mailed to the SLED Records Department in Columbia.
