Tennessee Background Checks

In order to retrieve and view Tennessee background checks and criminal records, follow these instructions:

Step 1: Visit the TBI website to download the Tennessee Background Check Request Form.

Step 2: Fill out the request form and complete your method of payment for the $29 fee (certified check, money order or credit card is accepted).

Step 3: Mail the completed request form and fee to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and wait for their response.

Tennessee Arrest Records

Tennessee arrest records are considered public information and can be accessed through the state’s Department of Correction. To make it easier to find Tennessee arrest records, there is an online search option.

To use the online search option to look for records, you will need to do the following:

Step 1: Go to the Tennessee Offender Information Lookup page. Read the page information and click the Search button.

Step 2: Choose one of the three options to fill out: name and race, TOMIS ID or State ID number. Type in the verification letters and click the Search button.

Step 3: Records will then be displayed.
