Arkansas marriage records are kept by the Arkansas Health department. The vital records department maintains marriage records dating back to January of 1917. Marriages that occurred before that date are not recorded in the Arkansas vital records department.
The Arkansas vital records department only provides what they call a marriage coupon. They do not provide an actual copy of the marriage license. You can obtain a certified copy of the coupon of marriage which is accepted by all state and federal offices. The fee for a marriage coupon is $10 per copy. You may also obtain a record of a divorce decree for a fee of $10. Most requests for Arkansas marriage records can be processed the same day if you go to the vital records office.
Arkansas marriage records are also kept in each county where the marriage took place. If you wish to obtain a copy of the actual marriage license you may contact the county clerk in the county where the marriage was originally recorded. The state of Arkansas has 75 counties.
