While most requests for marriage certificates can be fulfilled through this office, the Vital Records administrators note that not all Michigan marriages were filed in the state of Michigan.
Who May Request Marriage Records?
In Michigan, any individual may request a certified copy of a marriage certificate. Anyone may also request a simple authentication or verification of marriage as well.
Marriage Request Turnaround Time
The current turnaround time for regular mail requests is about 5 weeks. However, any record prior to 1926 will be archived and may take 1 to 3 months. For an extra $10 fee, any requestor may expedite his or her request for a 3 to 4 week turnaround.
