Where Mississippi Marriage Records are Maintained
The state Office of Vital Records has been charged with maintaining marriage records since 1926. A certified copy of a marriage certificate can be issued by the state office. However, note that marriage records from July 1, 1938 to December 31, 1941, as well as all records prior to 1926, are maintained by the county circuit court.
Restrictions for Requesting a Marriage Certificate
Proper and valid ID is required for a certified copy of a marriage certificate. Only those listed on the marriage certificate, a spouse, parent, grandparent, sibling, child, grandchild, or legal representative may place a request.
