Marriage records from the state of Nevada may be some of the most sought after in the nation. However, the State of Nevada does not maintain marriage records on a statewide basis.

Nevada marriage records are maintained on the county level only, and they are kept in the office of the County Recorder. However, the Office of Vital Statistics does maintain an index of marriage records that allows them to search and verify the occurrence of a marriage given detailed information about the event. This index goes back to 1968.

Unfortunately, the Office of Vital Statistics in Nevada only accepts mail-in requests directly, which may make it seem like the only way to get the marriage records you need is to wait for weeks. However, online vital records sites offer researchers a faster turnaround time, which means getting the information you need sooner.

Nevada marriage certificates and information have been kept indexed at the state level since 1968. The state does not provide certified copies. In order to receive a certified Nevada Marriage Certificate you must apply to the County Recorder in the county where the marriage license was issued. Fees will vary, and photo ID will be required.
