Nebraska Obituaries
To begin, add an obituary record or view a list of locations and resources for Nebraska obituaries.
Nebraska obituaries are far easier to find in 2009 than at any time in the state's history. Many local libraries and major state newspapers are working hard to put all of their records online for free so that anyone who wants to see them can. Currently, there are three major online databases in this state that you can use to check to see if the obit you are searching for is online.
The first handy website is known as O'Bits of Nebraska. This site will allow you to search for and view listings from the past for free and you can also order a hard copy of the obit for a small fee. As is the case in so many other states, the local genealogical society in Omaha does a great job of maintaining listings from the past, as well.
You can access their website and view listings from every major city newspaper all the way back to the 1800's. Our final stop is with the McCook Daily Gazette. This local newspaper has a viewable archive of listings from their own newspaper that go back to 2001. You can expect more of these archives to come online over the next few years.
